Measure the width of your palm and choose the size accordingly. Lay a ruler across your hand at the widest point below the fingers, without the thumb, and compare the value with the size table. If you fall between two sizes, take the larger one. The glove fits properly when it fits snugly without pressing.
Here you read how to measure your hand, which size belongs to which value, how to tell the right fit and what applies to summer, winter, women and men.
How do you measure your hand for cycling gloves?
- Lay your hand flat and take a ruler.
- Lay the ruler across your palm at the widest point below the fingers, without the thumb.
- Read the width in centimetres.
- Compare the value with the size table.
Which size fits which palm width?
This table applies to the Alpensattel cycling gloves:
| Palm width in cm | Size |
|---|---|
| up to 8,3 | S |
| 8.4–8.8 | M |
| 8.9–9.9 | L |
| 10.0–11.0 | XL |
| 11.1–12.6 | XXL |
| from 12.7 | XXXL |
If you fall between two sizes, take the larger one. Size XXXL is available for the PolarTherm Winter Handschuhe 2.0 and the Premium Thermo Fahrrad Handschuhe 3.0; the padded summer gloves come in S to XXL. You will also find the table on every product page.
How do you tell whether the glove fits properly?
- Too big: With a glove that is too big, air stays at the fingertips and they get cold in winter.
- Too small: A glove that is too small compresses the lining, and compressed fleece hardly keeps you warm.
- Cuff: It should not constrict. On the PolarTherm Winter Handschuhe 2.0 it is 2 cm longer and closes with a hook-and-loop strap, so no cold gets in at the wrist.
If your fingers tingle while riding, Numb hands when cycling helps: a suitable size and a cuff that does not constrict are part of it.
Does the size table apply to summer and winter gloves?
Yes, the same table applies to all our cycling gloves. With a winter glove the fit matters especially, because air at the fingertips and compressed lining cost you warmth. Which winter glove suits which temperature is shown in the winter glove comparison, an overview is in the Cycling gloves test 2026, and Cold fingers when cycling helps against cold fingers.
Are there cycling gloves in women’s and men’s sizes?
No, our cycling gloves are unisex models; what counts is the palm width. Narrow hands find a snug glove from size S, and for wide hands the winter gloves go up to XXXL. More in Winter cycling gloves for women and Winter gloves for men.
